Bad Boys Beach Bar

Captain Dave's on the Beach is now Bad Boys Beach Bar and is the home of the Nasty Bastards Band. Enjoy a friendly atmosphere, warm sea breezes, and a Caribbean view that goes all the way to Cozumel. No shoes, no shirt, no problem. (That goes for the girls too!)

Captain Daves is located on the beach in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and is a popular bar, beach club, restaurant, and hangout for both tourist and locals. The Nasty Bastards play live music for dancing on Thursday and Saturdays from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. (They quit early in consideration of the neighbors on both sides.)

Bad Boys Beach Club

Bad Boys gets rolling between 9:00 and 10:00 each morning. Come early and choose your beach chair and umbrella. You'll find a great staff of folks to serve you. You won't have to hang around long to become a friend. Don't be suprised to see beach servers carrying two or three cold margaritas on their head. Bad Boys has a well stocked bar and the bartenders will be happy to mix up your favorite cocktail - or let them suprise you with one of theirs. While you're there, be sure to order up a great burger, Mexican snack, or one of Bad Boys southern-cooked specials.

The Nasty Bastards Band

The Nasty Bastards Band play a mix of rock and roll favorites, country, blues, a little pop, and of course some of your favorite Jimmy Buffet tunes. The band members are JJ on keyboard, Noe on bass, Enrique on drums and Tony on the electric guitar. However, don't be surprised to see a variety of musicians on stage at Bad Boys Beach Bar. The Nasty Bastards are frequently joined by other professional and amateur musicians including Chris Bolister and Michael Grady. Bad Boys has an open mic policy so when third set comes around, it's your time to perform with a live band. If you play, sing, or do standup come by and let the band know. When do you have Open Mic?
The Nasty Bastards Band reserves the third set for Open Mic. If you or your group wants to sing, play an instrument, dance, or do stand up, just talk to JJ (keyboard player and lead vocalist) and he will work out the details. Remember the band plays live music on Thursday and Saturdays between 5:00 and 9:00 PM.

I can't find Bad Boys?
The easiest way to find Captain Dave's Bad Boys Boys Beach Bar is to walk down Calle 4 (4th Street) to the sea, then walk to your right about 100 feet. Look for the pirate flag. See the map here.

How can I get my photos in the gallery?

Has anyone seen Michael Grady?
Michael Grady is a singer, songwriter, and he's legendary in Playa. Grady was in town and performed for the 4th of July celebration in 2008. We we expect Grady to return to Playa in February 2009 for a month or so. More info later.

Can my girlfriend dance on the bar?
She won't be the first and probably not the last. The answer is yes, but we ask that she be careful not to fall off the bar or knock over someone's drink. We also ask that she wears at least as many clothes as she wears on the beach.
